Qualification Purpose & Results

The purpose of the RBF qualification process is to support the development of facilitators who use RBF skills competently to design and facilitate meetings that move from talk to action to produce results.

 

By the end of the qualification process, candidates demonstrate a/an:

  1. Understanding of the theory of RBF,
  2. Ability to apply the theory of RBF and use RBF foundation and advanced skills in the design and facilitation of results based meetings, and,
  3. Commitment to continued skill development.
Qualification Criteria
  1. Pass the RBF examination that assesses the candidate’s understanding of fundamental and advanced concepts and skills
  2. Submit a portfolio of materials from four meetings where RBF meeting design, concepts and skills were used.  Three of the four meetings must successfully demonstrate:
    1. Use of the 3Rs framework
    2. Analysis of participant compositions as it relates to relationships and resources that participants bring to bear in service of the meeting results
    3. Alignment of results with meeting conversations and activities
    4. Impact of the meeting on participants by sharing feedback from participants and the facilitator’s assessment of progress towards meeting results
  3. Develop an Individual Development Plan (IDP) to assess and improve skill level
    1. Submit a copy of the original and a current IDP showing progress in skill development
    2. Each skill must be assessed at a  “approaching” level for higher
  4. Be observed or assessed for skill level by a qualified RBF coach/facilitator (C/F).  The RBF C/F will provide coaching for a segment of a meeting conversation (real or simulation) that the candidate has designed and prepared for using RBF skills.   The candidate is assessed by the RBF C/F at the “approaching level” or above for all the Foundation skills.
RBF Network Workshops Path to Qualification

The RBF Network provides a three workshop series designed to support a candidate’s progress to qualification.  The RBF 101, 201, 301 series is one path to achieve qualification.  Not everyone attending the workshops will be pursuing qualification, nor are the workshops the only path to qualification (see customized qualification opportunity below).  The RBF workshop schedule can found by logging into www.rbfnetwork.com.  The following describes the workshop approach to qualification:

RBF 101

  • Introduction and practice of the Foundation Skills and initial introduction to Advanced Skills
  • Completion of the initial IDP and skill assessment
  • Practice plan to enhance skills and apply RBF methods between RBF 101 and RBF 201

RBF 201

Prerequisite to use this course for qualification: documentation of familiarity with RBF Foundation and Advanced skills.

  • Review of Foundation Skills and full exploration of Advanced Skills
  • Review of IDP progress, coaching on skills, feedback on skill level
  • Opportunity to take the RBF theory exam
  • Preparation for designing and implementing results based meeting that will provide documentation for qualification
  • Practice plan to continue skill development and apply skills in preparation for RBF 301

RBF 301

Pre-requisites to use this course for qualification: a) Passing the RBF Theory exam with a 90% or higher; and, b) Documentation of the design and facilitation of four results based meetings.

  • Practice of Foundation and Advanced Skills
  • Application of RBF skills to the design and facilitation of more complex meetings and more difficult meeting results
  • Coaching and feedback on use of RBF skills
  • IDP for continued skill development
  • Opportunity to achieve qualification status during the workshop if all criteria are met
Customized Path to Qualification

The RBF Network also offers a path to qualification that can be completely customized and not include any workshops, or include a combination of workshops and other methods for the candidate to demonstrate there understanding of the RBF theory and their competency in the use of RBF skills.

The candidate can request a consultative phone call with an RBF coach to explore and define their customized path at rbfnetwork.com.  The fees for the consultative phone call and other supports needed to design and implement a customized path to qualification will be shared with the candidate during the consultative call.
